CHANGE OF ADDRESS
When you relocate, it is important to notify people about your new address.
The Australian Electoral Commission should be informed of your new address after one month at the new residence. This will ensure that you remain eligible to vote. You'll need to submit an enrolment form, which can be posted; or scanned, then emailed, to the AEC.
It is also important to keep your Medicare address up-to-date to avoid delays in processing claims for Medicare benefits. You can notify Medicare by:
- calling 132 011
- attending a Medicare Office (a form is not required)
- posting the address change to Medicare, GPO Box 9822 in your capital city (a form is not required)
- using Medicare Australia's online services.
Australia Post offers a mail redirection service. An Application to Redirect Mail can be downloaded from their website. You will need to take the application to an Australia Post outlet, along with sufficient proof of identity, and pay in person. |
