ADELAIDE FOR CHILDREN

With expansive parklands, safe sheltered beaches and a diverse range of cultural attractions, Adelaide has plenty to offer children.

Our Education Consultant's top 5 days out in Adelaide:

"Popeye", a humble passenger launch, has become an icon of Adelaide. A round trip along the Torrens River from the Festival Centre to the Zoo takes about 35 min.

Cleland Conservation Park is home to a variety of Australian native animals. Children can feed kangaroos that roam freely in the park, and hold koalas with supervision by a keeper.

Hahndorf is a delightful old German settlement just over half an hour from the city. There's plenty to see including Model Train Land and Misty Hollow, an interactive storybook land.

South Australian Maritime Museum is located in the heart of historic Port Adelaide. The replica sailing ketch Active II allows children to experience life at sea, and an interactive exhibit featuring the nearby Port River pod of dolphins explores the lives of these fascinating marine animals.

Adelaide Zoo is a perennial favourite with children and adults alike. As well as a great range of exotic and native animals, the zoo has beautiful garden, ideal for a picnic and educational displays.

WHAT THE LOCALS SAY

"If your children are interested in railways, check out the National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide, with its huge collection of historic rolling stock."
