HOBART EDUCATION

Schooling is compulsory for children aged 6 to 15, and children can start school from age 4.

Government Schools are generally co-educational and charge minimal fees.

Private Schools tend to be affiliated with a church, some have long waiting lists and fees vary.

Parish Catholic Schools are common in most areas. Fees vary.

Long Day Care centres are open between 7.30am to 6.00pm and provide full or part time care for children up to school age.

Occasional care care is a short term care option sometimes provided by Long Day Care centres or other facilities.

Outside School Hours Care is provided before (7.00-9.00am) and after school (3.00 to 6.00pm) as well as during school holidays.
