RENTING
IN HOBART
Hobart generally has a good selection of rental properties in most areas. Leases for less than 12 months may be hard to secure.
With easy access to the city, the inner city and the lower river suburbs are most desirable. While rental prices here are relatively high in local terms, they are refreshingly inexpensive for most mainland residents.
In most parts of the city, two to three bedroom houses are around $250-$350 per week, ranging up to $500 per week for a four bedroom home in the more exclusive hillside suburbs. More affordable rentals can be found in the northern suburbs.
If you are relocating internationally, we recommend you leave white goods, such as washing machines,
and other electrical items at home, as most international
appliances are not compatible in Australia. Rental, or inexpensive
purchase is better option.
People on overseas assignments may be entitled to tax concessions
when renting. It is worth consulting an international tax
accountant to advise you before you relocate. |
