KARRATHA
EDUCATION
Children generally start school at 5 or 6 years old.
They attend primary school until they are 11 or 12 and then
go on to secondary school.
Primary education is available at four state primary schools and one catholic primary school.
Secondary education is available at Karratha Senior High state school and St. Luke's Catholic College. There can be waiting lists for St. Luke's so it is a good idea to contact them early to ensure places are available.
Tertiary and vocational education is provided by the Pilbara College of TAFE. Training is offered in a wide range of industry areas including; Metals, Mining and Engineering, Business and Management, Community Services, Electrotechnology, Enrolled Nursing, Commercial Cooking, Hospitality, Tourism, Indigenous Languages, Visual Arts and General Adult Education. There are also courses in English proficiency.
