LIVING
IN PERTH
Famous as the most isolated city in the world , Perth has a lot to offer in terms of warmth, sunshine and accessible lifestyle.
Perth lives in the glittering shadow of the 1980s economic boom, with numerous golf courses, yacht clubs, five-star restaurants and upmarket shopping. This high life is complemented by the peaceful 400 hectares of Kings Park bushland located in the heart of the city, as well as the graceful Swan River and nearby beaches.
Just beyond the city are a selection of stunning natural phenomena such as the dolphins of Monkey Mia, the towering karri forests to the south west and the 350 million year old Bungle Bungle range - visually stunning orange and black striped beehive-like mounds that rise more than half a kilometre above sea level.
Closer to home is Perth's sister city of Fremantle, only 20 minutes away. The site of the original port, Fremantle has been renovated over the past decades and is now a lively location for alfresco dining and shopping, with a number of outdoor markets.
Rottnest Island is another local treat. 19 km off the coast of Fremantle, this sandy island is named after the local rat-like marsupials known as quokkas. There is almost no motorized traffic on the island, and it has some of the area's most beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters and coral reefs. |
